Another oldie...

I expect Her Majesty fantasises about this a lot...

  1. I'd love to see her with a pint of Guinness. It suited her mother so well, and now she's of 'that' age - she might as well go for it.

  2. Ah, but the Crème de menthe may well have been for the geezer bottom right, Clangers - he looks the type to me.

  3. Steve, the guy in the middle with the pipe looks amazingly like a Malky McCormick character

  4. Hardly surprising, Jim - Malky has often acknowledged me as one of his greatest influences. Or was that effluences?

No matter. I invited Malky to come and watch a match between his beloved Kilmarnock FC and my own beloved St Johnstone FC a few years back. At the time, I was drawing a cartoon strip for the club programme, and part of my reward for doing so was a couple of season tickets for the corporate hospitality suite at the club. So Malky turned up, all suited up for the occasion, and we enjoyed posh nibbles either side of kick-off and at half time. I forget who won the game (so it was probably Killie), but unknown to Malky, I had drawn into that week's programme strip a 'gunfight' between him and me to see who was the fastest 'draw' in the West (of Scotland). I think he really enjoyed the day, but the b*gger's never returned the compliment. He did, however, draw a caricature (or kerrikachoor as he calls them) for my 40th birthday, in secret collusion with my eldest daughter, which I was very touched by.

He also told me once that he speaks over fifty different languages. Only one sentence though - "The Editor's a b*stard!"

    The man's a legend!
